Halcyon Days

The last week or so have been very pleasant in our family. Nothing out of the ordinary, just pleasant, peaceful days. Julianne is assisting in our church's backyard Bible clubs this summer and this week was her first club. She enjoyed it very much and it was encouraging to see her taking on this responsibility. Every night she studied the lesson and worked hard on the games for the memory verses.

Michael was home this week (and next) on vacation so our days haven't been as organized as they usually are. But that's ok! We enjoy having him home! We decided to go camping next week and are really looking forward to it. Today we got the camping stuff out (that we just put away a week or so ago!) and checked everything. We bought a new camp stove and a small grill. Cooking on the grill will free up the stove for other goodies like corn and baked beans :-).

Michael and I went to the Goodwill store and picked up some things for camping. He found a large Tupperware container for only a few dollars and I got a new set of bbq tools for .35 cents each! I also picked up some melamine plates and bowls that were on clearance at Target. They were only .75 cents each so I was a happy camper (pun intended!!)

The weather has been so nice for this time of year. Warm but not hot and not too humid either. We enjoy sitting out on the swing each evening after dinner. On the 4th of July we went over Matt's apartment and had a great time swimming in their complex's pool. We had a delicious dinner made by Jessica and watched The Fellowship of the Ring on his new plasma TV. What a treat that was!

Jared took his placement tests at the local community college and did well. He has his courses figured out and is waiting to register at the end of this month. His car will be getting fixed in the near future also. It is now in our backyard where he, Michael and a friend will be doing all the body work on it. I can't say I enjoy looking at a car in our backyard but at least I know it's not up on blocks and won't become a permanent fixture!

It's hard to believe that it's almost the second week in July. The days are slipping by at a fast pace. We haven't done nearly as much school as I thought we would but we are all enjoying being together and are learning a lot more about life than fractions. There's always time for that.

So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
