Tonight we had our "packing party" at church to pack all our suitcases and get them weighed. We had a lot of donations of games, coloring books, etc. to take to the hospital so we had to pack all those up also. Kevin managed to get most of them into one suitcase. He's one efficient packer! Michael does well at that also. Must be a guy thing!
I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home to pick up the last little things I need. When I went to Honduras in October, I took way too much stuff. I've really cut back but I did need a few little travel items. I also picked up a package of "breath rite" strips. I want to see if they will help me to sleep better tonight. I've heard a lot of good things about them so I wanted to try them for myself. I also bought myself a new pair of pajamas. That's a treat for me. :-)
Tonight we had homemade pizzas. They were good. I make the dough in my bread machine then add sauce and toppings. Yum!
As I was driving to church tonight, I was listening to the Bible. One of the passages was Psalm 62. What a wonderful Psalm to remind us to rest in God. Verses 5-8 say:
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Selah
I love that little word "selah" which means (paraphrasing) "rest a minute, meditate on this". Yes, I can meditate on the truth that God is my refuge. He is my rock and my salvation. Amen!!

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
"Fear not, I am with thee; O be not dismayed,
For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.
"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply:
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.
"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I will not desert to its foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no, never, no, never forsake!"

After a step of faith most persons are looking for sunny skies and unruffled seas, and when they meet a storm or tempest they are filled with astonishment and perplexity. But this is just what we must expect if we have received anything of the Lord. The best token of His Presence is the adversary's defiance, and the more real our blessing the more certainly it will be challenged. It is a good thing to go out looking for the worst, then if it comes we are not surprised; while if our path be smooth and the way upopposed it is all the more delightful because it comes as a glad surprise.
But let us understand what we mean by temptation. You, especially, who have stepped out with the assurance that you have died to self and sin, may be greatly amazed to find yourself assailed with a tempest of thoughts and feelings that seem to come wholly from within, and you will be impelled to say, "Why, I thought I was dead, but I seem to be alive!" This, beloved, is the time to remember that in temptation the instigation is not your sin but only the voice of the evil one.~Dr. A. B. Simpson
Why does the battle thicken so--
The darts rain fast upon my breast,
While missiles hurled with cruel force
Ring loud against my burnished crest?
Above the din I seem to hear
My Captain's voice in accents clear,
"Because your shield is down!"
Why does the enemy advance
And hem us 'round on every hand
While we, the army of the Lord,
Can scarce his arrogance withstand?
Above the shouts I seem to hear
My Captain's voice in accents clear,
"Because your shields are down!"
Ah! Now it's brighter--now I see
The enemy is taking flight,
And lo, the banner of the Cross
Streams red against the morning light;
But as they flee I seem to hear
My Captain call in accents clear,
"Let not your shields go down!"

Monday, of course, means laundry. I finished most of it before I left for babysitting. The baby had her shots this morning so she was not a happy camper. Actually, she was for about an hour and then......wah! I gave her some Tylenol but that didn't seem to help. Julianne and I did keep her somewhat happy and then she took her nap--but only for an hour. Hopefully Wednesday she'll be feeling better!! please
We did manage to get school finished. More fractions! I need to go over Julianne's history and language arts and will do that in a little while. I found out that the local homeschool co-op is having an open house on the 22nd. I'll be in Honduras but Michael will attend. I'm hoping to put her in both math and science classes. Definitely math because I do not like teaching it. At all.
I had a lot of chores to do this afternoon and evening but didn't get many of them done. While dinner was cooking I went upstairs to read for about 45 minutes. Bliss!! After dinner, the girls and I lounged around Jessica's room and talked. We found out from the paper that the GEICO cavemen are going to have their own series. Can you believe it? We really think they're funny but I don't know how that will translate into a 30-minute show! I cut out the picture of one of the cavemen that was in Saturday's paper and put it over Matt's picture. Jessica just noticed today :-)!!!
Poor Jared. He is sick and he is tired. He went to work tonight but I thought he should have stayed home. He said when he got home from school that he went right to bed until 4:30. When he came home from work tonight he said "hi" and then went to bed! I pray he will feel better tomorrow. I think he got someone to cover his shift tomorrow night but I didn't get a chance to find out for sure. I hope so!
Another Monday standard, beside sleeping in and laundry, is "24". Jack was up to his usual tricks tonight and it ended with him being captured by the Russians. But I'm not worried, he'll find a way out and a way to save the United States. Go Jack!!
That's about all from here. I hope you all had a wonderful day.

May the mind of Christ, My Savior
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and pow'r controlling
All I do and say.
May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only thru His pow'r.
May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in ev'rything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.
May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing--
This is victory.
May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.
May His beauty rest upon me
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
Well, there's not much to comment on that!!
