Classes Changed!

Ok! I was able to change Julianne's schedule around. She now has Writing/Literature 1st period and Pre-Algebra 2nd period. I dropped the Physical Science class. We might do it here or just wait until next year. I haven't decided that yet.

I went into the kitchen awhile ago and there were ants all over a cake that Julianne made the other day. Eewwwww. I hate ants. I think I found the where they're getting in and I made my carbon footprint larger because I sprayed them to death!

I took the bandages off this morning and my stitches look good. My arm is sore but not too bad. I got back for a follow-up next Thursday.

Tuesday at Home

It is very hot and humid here and promises to be for the next few days. It's the kind of heat that makes you lose your breath when you walk outside! We might get thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon/night. We could use the rain.

I had minor surgery on my right arm today to remove two fatty tumors. All went well and I'm doing fine. I had the surgery at 11 and I can just now feel the pain killer wearing off. I know it is going to be very sore later tonight and tomorrow. So.....I'm taking the pain meds my doctor gave me and heading to bed!

I received an e-mail from the co-op that Julianne will attend in the fall and they have changed a few classes around so I have some rethinking to do! She was going to go 2nd and 3rd period with lunch in between but now her classes are 2nd and 4th. I don't want to drive up and back twice in a day; it's 16 miles each way and I also don't want to pay for her to go to study hall during 3rd period. And here I thought I had her schedule all planned!!! (see Proverbs 16:9)

I went to Sam's Club this afternoon for some staples and one of the free samples was Kung Pao Chicken. I had never had it before but tried it and it was good. I bought some for dinner! I served it over rice and it was really good.

Everything is progressing nicely with the house makeover. In the last two weeks all the rooms have been painted and the downstairs floor was put in. Yeah! I will be calling next week to see when the furniture can be delivered. It was scheduled for the middle of August but since everything is (mostly) done it would be nice to have something to sit on sooner!

I haven't been taking much pictures lately but here's a video of Julianne getting her green belt in karate:

Jesus is the Only Way

While attending King's Fest, I saw this tag on the girl sitting in front of me. I took a picture of it because I had never seen anything like this. It turns out to be a scapular. I was really sad when I read the words on it. I wondered if this girl really thought she wouldn't see eternal fire if she was wearing this scapular when she died? There is only one way to be saved from eternal fire:

JESUS IS THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE OBJECT OF SAVING FAITH

Some people think it doesn't matter what you believe as long as you're sincere. But without a valid object your faith is useless.

If you take poison--thinking it's medicine--all the faith in the world won't restore your life. Similarly, if Jesus is the only source of salvation, and you're trusting in anyone or anything else for your salvation, your faith is useless.

Many people assume there are many paths to God and that each religion represents an aspect of truth. But Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me" (John 14:6). He didn't claim to be one of many equally legitimate paths to God, or the way to God for His day only. He claimed to be the only way to God--then and forever.

Please see the complete tract here at Grace to You to learn more about the true way of salvation.

I pray that this girl will come to know that wearing something or doing something is not going to save her, only trust in Christ alone will save her.

Paint?

My dining/living room is being painted right now. I'm not sure I like the color. It seems sooo dark but.....it's still wet and only has one coat so I will wait.

I also made a mistake in the color of the kitchen. Ugh. Now I need to buy another gallon of the right color. Off I go back to Lowe's. Again.

Update

Our internet was down most of the week but we got it back yesterday! I didn't realize how much I rely on it to look up things. I'm glad to have it back :-).

Yesterday and today Julianne and I went to the first two days of King's Fest. It was a great line up of bands and we had a wonderful time! Pictures and videos to be uploaded later. Goodnight!

4th of July Fireworks

video

We went with friends to see the Richmond Braves play like we do almost every year for the 4th of July. They put on the best fireworks show in Richmond. They are leaving our city after this year so I'm not sure what we'll be doing July 4th, 2009!!

The Braves tied the game in the bottom of the 9th and we ended up going to 14 innings. At that point, we were all ready for somebody to win so we could watch the fireworks. The Braves lost and the fireworks started around 11:00. We were so tired!!

Here's a picture of our friends' little boy waiting patiently, but very tired, for the fireworks to begin:

Found A Great Pen!

I like to write with a fine point whether it's a pencil or pen. Years ago, Bic used to make an accountant fine point that was orange with a blue cap. I loved that pen! They still make an "accountant" pen but it's not the same.

The other day I was in Office Max and came across some pens called TUL (long u). They had some samples to try and lo and behold! A fine point that was actually fine. Very fine! I bought a whole pack and have been very pleased. They are sold only at Office Max or online here. If you go to the website, be sure to take the handwriting analysis. It's a hoot!

Kitchen Makeover Pictures

Ta da! It still needs to be painted and the new floor laid but it is functional now. I also need to find new hardware. There are so many choices that it may take me a while to figure out which would look best.
What do you think??

More Progress

The kitchen is being worked on right now. I hope to be able to add some pictures tonight!!
