Here at Home

Things have been going smoother here at home. Julianne is finishing up her last week of school. So far all her grades have been good. This afternoon we'll find out about Biology. She took a test last week and also turned in her project. I think she did a great job on it!

Our tree is up but not decorated. I'm hoping to do that tonight and also get the house decorated. I only put a few decorations out; it is getting less and less each year. I just don't have the energy anymore to put all that stuff away!!

I'm headed back to NJ again but for a quick trip. My mom needs some help so I'm driving up tomorrow, staying Thursday and driving back on Friday. Whew!

Jared moved into a house with two other guys so now we have another empty room. So now we have two children out of the home. Jared's house is very nice and it was encouraging to see what he did on his own. There's hope yet! Haha! I miss not seeing him everyday but that is all part of growing up and of letting go. The mommy in me would keep all my children next to me but I know that is not what is best. Ugh! I would hate to have a mama's boy!

We're going to turn his room into a guest room--after the holidays. It needs paint, new flooring and furniture. I have a friend who has a guest room and she calls it her thrift room since most everything in it was purchased at thrift stores and yard sales. I hope to follow her example.

Through all of these changes in my life, God is faithful. He is faithful when I am not. I'm reminded of this during Christmas time. He loved me so much that He became flesh in order to save me. He was faithful while I was not yet He still became God in the flesh! It hurts my brain to think about that too much. How could an infinite God be confined to finite flesh?

"......and you are to give Himm the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21b)

More Pictures

All these pictures were taken by Julianne with her new Nikon D3000 that she received for Christmas.

The "enemy".

Ok, can she possibly be any cuter?

More cuteness from Dasher.

Jim and Carolyn, our former pastor/teacher and his wife, who were back to visit when our church celebrated its 20th anniversary this past Sunday. They are now missionaries to Mexico City!

Michael being funny!

Dasher with her bat ears!!

Arwen, looking like a puppy.

Arwen with her best "sad" face. She's such a beautiful beagle!

Let It Snow?

It's December 5th and it's snowing in Richmond; now it's gone as quickly as it came and we are left with more rain! It seems we have had rain on and off for a few months. We had 9.60" of rain in November, which set a record. I hope it turns colder so any more rain this month will turn to snow!

I went up for a few days to see my mom. She is doing ok but misses my dad a lot. I know the holidays are going to be hard. She did put up a tree and I was glad to hear that. I'm planning on going back before Christmas and I'm hoping I can talk her into visiting. I can only hope!

My house isn't decorated yet but I hope to get to it this week. I was telling a friend that I decorate less and less each year. I will put up our tree and then will probably just decorate here and there. I'm really trying to focus more on the true meaning of the season. It seems it is getting lost more and more. I was happy to see that Target had Merry Christmas signs up. That's unusual!

I hope to get back to regular blogging soon; I've missed being here :-) May you have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth!
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before Him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is He who made us, and we are His;
we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gateswith thanksgiving and His courts with praise;
give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;
His faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100

Monday, November 16, 2009:

Outside my's a beautiful day with a bright, blue, cloudless sky

I am remembering....when the children were little and we would rake leaves into big piles and then jump!!

I am thankful for...sunny days that follow many days of rain

From the learning rooms...I am pleased with Julianne's grade in Writing/Literature (the highest in her class!)

From the kitchen...the crockpot is making dinner!

I am wearing...sweats; I just finished cleaning the downstairs and am getting ready to hop in the shower

I am for upcoming babies due and baby showers

I am take Julianne to the orthodontist and run some errands while she is there

I am reading...actually listening to the audio book of "Crazy Love" . By the way, this website offers a free audio book each month; this month it's Desiring God by John Piper! When I have free time at my desk, I listen to audiobooks.

I am hoping...for lots of snow this winter :-)

I am iPod playing Steven Curtis Chapman's "Speechless"

Around the house...there are lots of leaves that need to be picked up. I hope to work on that tomorrow.

One of my favorite things...birdwatching

A few plans for the rest of the week: packing to go to NJ on Friday
