Here at Home

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Central Virginia. The temperature is in the high 60's!! Rain is expected later this week so I'm enjoying each day.

Not much new and exciting has been going on here. I'm trying to remain faithful to my work here at home.

It seems even before the month started, the days were filling up with activities. Maybe the warm weather has something to do with it. Julianne is volunteering to work with Cinderella Dreams this coming Sunday. She will be with others from her homeschool co-op and will help set up and organize the gowns.

Speaking of gowns and proms, Julianne may be going to one of the local homeschool proms. Some of her girlfriends are planning this now. So, we might we back at Cinderella Dreams looking for a dress!!

I took Julianne and two of her friends to see the midnight premiere of Alice in Wonderland. In 3D, of course. We had a good time but I was tired the next day.

On the homeschooling front, I am planning next year. Julianne's junior year!! How crazy is that? Our co-op posted the new schedule so I've been deciding which classes she should take there and which ones we should do at home.

Julianne met with a tutor for Algebra and it went very well. Her tutor helped her with a lot of the concepts she was struggling with and she came away with a better understanding and also a confidence in her skills.

I am reading "A Praying Life" by Paul Miller and it has been so challenging. I can see that this is one of those books that need to be read a few times. In the chapter on continually praying, the author talks about prayer being a habit so that he created "a rut between my soul and God." He says that we "don't need self-discipline to pray continuously; you just need to be poor in spirit." He challenged me with this: "A praying life isn't simply a morning prayer time; it is about slipping into prayer at odd hours of the day, not because we are disciplined but because we are in touch with our own poverty of spirit, realizing that we can't even walk through a mall or our neighborhood without the help of the Spirit of Jesus."

Last night at church we had a ladies' craft night. Some ladies learned to crochet, knit, stamp and decoupage. Others, like me, brought their current project to work on. I finally received the thread I was missing for my bib so I was able to work on that. I'm almost finished.

I was thinking on embroidery a blanket to make a bird quilt but I've decided against that. I would like to be able to give all handmade gifts this Christmas so I need to get started on those. Only 9 months left!!

That's about all from here. Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

I love the name of you blog. Your post was so true. The book you are reading reminds me of one I just read, Practicing the Presence of Christ...
Many Blessings,
