Memorial Day

Thanks to all the men and women who died so that I could have the freedom I enjoy today. A special thank you to my dad who served 30 years in the Army and fought in 3 wars: WWII, Korea and Viet Nam.

God's Beautiful Creation

This past weekend we went to two graduation parties; both held at a local picnic area that looks onto a reservoir. The same place we went last year with our fellowship group for a pontoon ride. (For some reason, I don't think I posted those pictures.) It was so peaceful. I'd love to go back to take some sunset pictures.

Last Wednesday I parked my car on a steep hill and had to use my parking brake, which is the kind you push down with your foot. When I was realeasing the brake, my foot slipped and somehow smashed against the emergency brake pedal. Not sure what happened, I just know it hurt. I knew the minute it happened that there would be bruising. A few days later I hit the same toes on the bottom of our ottoman. Ouch again!! Then on Sunday as I was getting out of the aisle to let someone in, they stepped on the same foot. Boo Hoo!!

It doesn't hurt much but it is swollen. Maybe I should paint my toenails to match the purple bruises!!

Fence Pictures

Our backyard fence is now in! After I took these pictures, I took Julianne to karate. Michael called a while later to say they were done. I'll have to take more pictures tomorrow. Now the doggies can run free.....and hopefully now the barking will be kept to a minimum since they can't see every cat and squirrel in the neighborhood!!

Two Weeks Have Flown By!

It's been almost 2 weeks since I've posted. Time is just rushing by!! I know I say that a lot but that's how I feel. Even though I am always looking for ways to simplify things, time is one of the things that can't be slowed down.

These last 2 weeks have been packed. It seems toward the end of every school year it's like this. Every Thursday I've been taking Dasher to the vet to get her package changed. Only 2 more weeks to go. It's worked out well because I drive Julianne to co-op and then go to the vet, which is close by. Her foot is healing well and she can move around with her cast just fine. She hasn't let it slow her down one bit!

What's been keeping me busy? Lots of appointments for me and Julianne: vet, orthodontist, dentist, optometrist. We had the bug man out to do his annual termite inspection; replaced on the interior doors; and next week we're getting a new fence put in the backyard. I've been to a used curriculum sale (another one Friday night...and Monday night), my usual visit each Thursday with a friend who is suffering from Lyme's Disease, had friends over for dinner, started back meeting with Trish for Bible study and oh, keep up with laundry, cleaning, etc. Haha!

I'm such a poor blooger I'm surprised anyone is reading this! Co-op ends next week and I think life will slow down a bit. I will be in NJ for the first week of June so I hope to relax while visiting my mom and sister.

I have a lot more to share but I'll break it up over the next few days. What have you all been doing? Please share your days!

Michael and Jared went fishing in the pond on the property where Jared lives. They had a really nice time together and caught some decent fish. Jared, as usual, out-fished his dad!!

Today at Home

I have a list of household projects that I am working my way through. I guess you could call it spring cleaning although it will probably take me longer than spring to complete it.

Today's project was cleaning and organizing our master bedroom closet. I spent most of the afternoon going through all our clothes, shoes, purses, belts, etc. I was able to take 7 bags to Goodwill; 3 of them were from Julianne when she did some organizing in her room. I cant' believe how much more room there is in there!!

Today was my only "at home" day this week so I was glad I was able to accomplish something. Monday I went grocery shopping at Sam's Club to pick up food for serving the homeless. Before I went I was able to spend a few hours at my desk paying bills, balancing my checkbook, and organizing paperwork. I always let this go too long and now I have it written on my calendar for every Monday.

Tuesday I drove Julianne to co-op, went to church to gather the rest of the food and folks to serve the homeless. We finished around 1:30. I came home for a little while then drove back out to pick up Julianne. When we got back home, I took a nap for about an hour and then drove her to karate. I put over 100 miles on my car yesterday!!

The rest of the week looks just as busy and as I turned the page on my planner, I see that it is equally full. The week of the 17th looks promising!!

How about you? How is your week? I'd love to hear from you!!

For Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Outside my window...sunny; mourning doves are on the ground gleaning from the feeders

I am thankful…for air conditioning

From the learning rooms…Julianne had to dissect a pig fetus today at co-op and was not happy

From the kitchen...pulling out recipes for light and easy meals for the summer

I am creating...birthday and baby cards; it seems there are a lot of each coming up

I am reading…still working through “A Praying Life”. (This may be up here a while)

I am finish up the deep cleaning; only a few rooms to go!

I am hearing…birds singing outside; sounds like a Robin

One of my favorite things…the privilege of serving the homeless; our group went this afternoon

Around the house...Julianne and Michael did a fabulous job of getting the yard ready for the fence. Now I need to work on the front and side gardens. They are a mess.

A few plans for the rest of the week: a friend is coming over tomorrow to measure our doors: we’re replacing all of them in the house; Thursday the bug man is coming for his annual termite inspection; Friday we’re going to see Midsummer’s Night Dream, some of Julianne’s friends are in it; Saturday is the Richmond Homeschool Prom, Julianne will be attending and I’ll be helping in the kitchen.

Here is a picture I am sharing...Julianne and her friends being silly!
